Cotton Flea Beetle

The Cotton Flea beetle (Chaetocnema sp. and Nisotra sp.) is a small, shiny, metallic beetles noted for their jumping ability. They have a last pair of legs with an enlarged segment for jumping. Seedling damage caused by flea beetles is reported occasionally. Adults are 2 – 6 mm long and shiny brown or black body. Cotton is the crop attacked usually, causing linear surface feeding patterns or holes, particularly on the cotyledons.
