While most nematodes are soil-dwelling, the foliar nematode or Crimp NematodeĀ Aphelenchoides lives only briefly in soil. More importantly, it lives on the above-ground portions of plants, often without causing any obvious symptoms. Above ground symptoms of foliar nematode include stunted growth, reddened leaves, small curled or crinkled leavesĀ (crimp), deformed buds and flowers, and a reduction in flowering and fruiting.
